Accounts/Office/Entrance Assistant
JOB PURPOSE: We are seeking an Accounts/Office and Entrance Assistant to deal with all aspects of admin, accounts and office work   CONDITIONS: The Accounts/Office and Entrance Assistant works directly with the Director, Park Manager, Office Manager. The post holder will have the use of a computer and scanner in the Accounts Office with Microsoft Office programmes installed on it.  At times the applicant will need to help in the office or on the entrance with any jobs they may have.   HOURS: This is normally a full-time post within the main Office building. Your hours of work will be from 8am approx. throughout the year, it can increase till anywhere between 8 and 11:30 depending on the time of year and staffing requirements. The closing time varies according to the time of year to ensure the smooth operation of the park: approximately 5.00/5.30 pm (winter), 6pm (spring) and 6.30/6.45pm (summer holidays). We host various events throughout the year that are run outside of our usual closing times. A flexible approach to finishing hours is required to ensure the accounts department is covered during these times.   Due to the nature of the tourism industry, it is important that the staff have a flexible approach to their work.  There is a total of 28 days’ holiday per year, holidays cannot be taken during the school holidays or on Bank Holidays as these are our busiest times.  Holiday days can be taken, when enough holiday hours have been accrued; the holiday hours are accrued from the day you start work. Bank holidays are treated as normal working days, there is not an overtime rate of pay.  There is a company pension scheme.  There is a half an hour unpaid lunch break.  When the Park is open, there is the opportunity to purchase food for lunch with a 40% discount.   SKILLS:
  • Fully computer literate with experience of Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
  • Tactful, sensitive approach when discussing confidential, financial matters.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Self motivated to organise workload and achieve deadlines.
  WORK TASKS: You will be involved in the following tasks but not necessarily all of them straight away.
  • Dealing with the Accounts Department’s post and emails.
  • Accurately inputting data on to Excel spreadsheets to create extensive records and budgeting sheets on a daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
  • Checking to make sure all invoices have been received for the park and following up any missing ones & cross-checking delivery notes.
  • Dealing with petty cash.
  • Assisting with bank reconciliations.
  • Opening and cashing up tills.
  • Assisting with monthly cash flow projections.
  • Keeping company car fuel logs.
  • Inputting data onto the computer such as takings, petty cash, credit card payments, etc.
  • Taking telephone calls, answering queries such as opening times and prices when the office staff are occupied.
  • Working in the entrance huts, shop, catering outlets to cover staff breaks and to assist in busy periods.
  • Any other duties which may arise.
The role involves a lot of telephone work and talking to people in person: -
  • Answering general enquiries
  • Taking group bookings for the park
  • Receiving calls and directing them to the correct departments, including dealing with incoming sales calls
  • Taking accurate messages and passing on important information
  • Greeting customers, visitors and staff with a friendly smile and helpful demeanour
  • Directing deliveries to the correct areas
  • Dealing with complaints from customers
There are general administration tasks: -
  • Writing letters using Microsoft Word
  • Answering enquiries and responding to customer via email using Microsoft Outlook
  • Dealing with lost children and lost property and contacting owners and relatives
  • Handling incoming and outgoing post

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer: We are currently recruiting for an Mechanical Engineer to join us at Wheelgate Park. In this role you will create memorable experiences for our guests by keeping our rides and attractions operating at the peak of efficiency and safety. Working within our maintenance team you’ll use your passion for getting the job done in the most efficient and effective way possible. You’ll look for opportunities to find long term solutions, not just make a quick fix. You’ll be empowered to make decisions and you’ll genuinely want to make a difference. The experience and safety of our guests is our key priority, and you will have a direct positive impact on this. We are looking for the following skills and experience:
  • A fully qualified & experienced engineer who can bring a wealth of maintenance experience to the team
  • As well as technical ability, we’re looking for a detailed person who thinks outside of the box.
  • You will need to have a keen eye for detail.
  • You will be expected to follow and understand written instructions and you will be a good communicator who is able to produce accurate written reports
  • To undertake repairs in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations and industry standard practices
  • Prioritise system faults
  • To comply with Health & Safety legislation at all times
  • To ensure quality of output at all times
  • Working with water systems
  • You’ll be a supportive team member, who’ll work closely with colleagues, park manager and directors on the best solutions to problem solving.
About the role: The role is full time, permanent, averaging 40+ hours per week and will include 1 day at the weekend and bank holidays as required. Salary/hourly rate to be discussed at interview stage and 28 days holiday. There are opportunities for career advancement. Experience in amusement rides not essential. Training will be provided in troubleshooting maintenance and repairs of rides across the park. Electrical experience advantageous but not essential.
